Barracuda
When you do a water change in an already medicated tank, do you add the full dose to the tank according to the tank capacity (eg. for med 1ml per 10l in a 100l tank, add 10ml med), or do you add the amount for new water (eg. add 20l water add 2ml med). So in summary add original full dose or add the partial dose according to the amount of new water? Hope this makes sense... Thanks

It's always safer to use to little than to much
Josh
I wouldn't go changing the water mid way through a treatment. Finish the treatment and then dose as per the bottle, for the entire volume of the tank Josh
CThompson
I wouldn't go changing the water mid way through a treatment. Finish the treatment and then dose as per the bottle, for the entire volume of the tank Josh I'd second that, however, you shouldn't dose as per the bottle, for the entire volume of the tank if you've just done a 1/3 (for example) water change. Water changes are important, but one delayed for a few days will not kill fish. Overdosing can kill fish, and underdosing may not affect the reason you are medicating. Keep it simple - don't do a water change mid treatment. I like doing a water change at the completion of medication to get the toxins out of the water. Josh
Hey Craig Answer this, If I am treating with "whatever medication", on days one, three and five. I do a water change on day two. Do I treat with the full amount on day 3 or only treat the water I changed?
Noddy65
Interesting questions...it would depend on what meds your using... If using an antibiotic, it should, in theory, be inactive by the following day (depending on the type) thats why we do multiple doses. It then follows that if doing a water change between doses it would make sense to dose for the whole tank since the meds you used a day or so ago are no longer active anyway...
