klw
hello,i have a 3ft tank i want to paint the back of,but, fish are in it.can i still paint it?im a bit worried about fumes getting in the water.i would have to put a few coats on so i am not sure, what do you all think?also,if no go,would contact stick to glass ok?i dont want traditional backgrounds as they look messy cause i can never cut them right so theyre out of the question. thanks
scott_to4
i cant see a problem with it mate so long as you be careful with the paint and have good ventilation, even use a fan if you have to. open your windows/doors etc. and yer contact will to stick to glass no worries just make sure glass is clean. bunnings have a product called ESP (easy surface prep) made especially for cleaning glass and promoting good paint adhesion
dkw
So long as you're not spray painting you'll do okay -- I used a 4" wide roller to do mine. Couldn't agree more with Scott, you'll definitely want ESP, that stuff works wonders. -Dan.
pjmowens
the safest option would be to contact. if you paint whilst the fish are in the tank there is always a risk of contamination. having painted empty tanks myself i would not recommend painting one that is full, but that is my opinion. it depends on whether you want to or not really. yes it can be done but there is a risk. HTH Patrick Ps ESP works great.
