Finn
Well the project to move our fish room from the shed to the house has started. Hubby has been to Bunnings......... Current tanks are in one of the sheds we have New room Computer will be moved once we convert the back bedroom into the office!! Need the space in the shed once the tanks are moved to store the stuff that was in the bedroom! So its fun and games in our house whilst Max builds the new racks along the wall for what we currently have to move......
Foti
finn i like what im seeing good luck with the move i think you will enjoy the room more plus if the inlaws try to sleep over you could send them to the shed i think i like that part the most all the best keep us updated with the transition
hobcas
hubby does looks like he's getting serious, what with a new Compound Mitre Saw with ergonomic handle and all......... One thing I always seem to regret is not planning the "grand design" and building towards it from the start rather than growing by the "ad hoc" method, have you got a master plan? If you have a laundry or bathroom nearby you could always plumb through a tap and a waste, for me having those two things near perfect makes life easier although it looks like the room backs outside anyway. Good luck with it.....and the temporary kayos. Ross
Finn
All the wood has been cut into the appropriate size that Max wanted. The base is currently laid out on the floor in the office so we can see what room we have round it. The office was the original garage so the doors exit to the outside - the garden hose is just at the end of the patio so its easy to get the water out via the hose system. Once the rack is built Max will plumb all the tanks - he is going to build a water change system so he can easily do the changes on the tanks. Unfortunately he was sick yesterday so nothing go any further than out the carport! He wants to start assembling it tonight to get the rack atleast built. Will keep you posted. hobcas
Looking good........and getting closer. I like how you will be able to get around the back of the rack so as you can still utilise your cupboard. The desk is gone? Ross
mcloughlin2
It looks like it is going to be very neat when completed. When is completion expected?
Finn
Ross - no the desk is still there. It will be moved into the back bedroom shortly we can still get round everything with the desk there, the computer and internet are still plugged in so it will be moved eventually. Max is planning on building an 8fter on that wall!!! Due to me being sick last week and having a busy weekend with the horses not a lot has progressed. We hope to have the framework at least built this weekend and then slowly move the tanks over. Max's timeframe is within the month to have everything out of the shed and back inside so will see if that happens......................

Finn
Rack one built - front supports are removable Rack two built and joined to rack one Powerpoints mounted to the wall Max putting hose up for the air pump Next step to start moving the tanks into the garage
mcloughlin2
I personally would have went for more powerpoints but aslong as you can throw a power pack on them if needed that should suffice. It looks very neat. Has the piping for the airlines been curved like that to prevent slowing down the airflow? I would have bought one of those L pieces for the corners so it didn't sit like that. Finn
The powerpoints are temporary to get things started and then will get an electrician in to do more. We brought a powerpoint chain from Bunnings and will see how they go. Max brought a high powered Hailea Hi blow diaphragm air pump HP100 which has a flow rate for 100ltr per minute so should do the job nicely. That corner you are referring to is yet to be completed sorry forgot to put that in! - Max doesn't have the end he wants so it will be sorted later.......... Finn
Well we got a bit done on the weekend. Friday night the fry tanks got moved in. Saturday the empty racks and tanks. Sunday moved the 2 4ft tanks and the sump - that was a challenge but its in and all the little fish are happy - we got Brasiliensis fry on Saturday so was really worried about moving them. After seeing Mike's chair Max had to put a chair in Fry tanks 4fters - top has flavus and middle has brasiliensis Happy brasiliensis with their babies (yeap the tank glass needs cleaning!) We have 2 4ft tanks on order for the bottom of the main rack - hopefully ready this weekend. Still got work to do put its up and running and the fish are all happy and active. Finn
We have 2 4fters confirmed now to pick up on the weekend so that will fill most of the main rack. Then its on to the wall - want to do a custom sump for the 4 2fters so that is the next step....
