I have as follows in my 4 foot 2 fronnies 15cm hopefully giving away 1 since other is too dominant (hands up anyone) 5 cobalts 3-5cm 1 mangano 7cm 1 interuptus 7cm 1 green terror 5cm 1 elec blue 3cm 2 dolphins 3cm 1 venustus 5cm I realise they need slightly warmer water but is there anything else? Just want some pow of color in the tank
Ant
No Sorry, those Africans are far to aggressive for the passive Discus.
jamie2548
oh well thanks for the advice. I spose they would end up being triangles not discus Have to get another tank.
fry_2_buy
Pretty sure pH is different too, lots less for discus.
mcloughlin2
Bad match. Different temperments, different water requirements, different tank layouts, different foods, different maitenance levels. So yes they are completely unsuitable to be kept in the same tank.
CThompson
oh well thanks for the advice. I spose they would end up being triangles not discus Have to get another tank. "Tiangles" = angles? If so, also not suitable. When thinking about adding fish together - do some basic research such as pH comparisons, then drill a bit deeper for fish behavioural characteristics, look at growth and max size, where they come from in nature, what they eat (fish?). As a generalisation keep Africans with Africans.
jamie2548
NO Thomo! I meant if the discus get fin nipped they would then indeed be the shape of triangles not discus. Angels not my thing. Not enough color for me.
mcloughlin2
It's not the fin nipping that is so much the problem - it is the constant harrassment and attacking that will cause the death of the discus. Also put a discus in a tank with a high pH, general hardness and carbonate hardness levels and just watch how much it likes it. PS: Discus have round bodies with the fins actually making the discus appear more triangle. Take the fins off and you have a very round fish
