Lethrinops... any out there?

I am putting together a new fish room an I'll have some space for one more colony.

Saw L Red Flush and Oculatus in Pablo Tepoot's pictorial guide, great looking fish.

Did a search on Ace but not many recent references. Are there any around? Is there a market for fry?

I want a medium size, colourful African species. Also thought about Foai / Furcifer, also stunning fish. How would they compare with Lethrinops in terms of selling the fry?

Thanks in advance for any info,

Cheers,

Pete

If you find any let me know !

I've been on the hunt for any lethrinops for a while - The closest I've come in the last 3 months is at one store that "had" a couple until the morning before I went and a guy advertising in parramatta who doesn't return e-mails .

Based on the prices that they do sell for when available i'd guess the fry would be in fairly high demand . ($65-80 each for around 4-5cm albus) . Furcifer are a type of lethrinops , but I'd expect them to be in just as high a demand as the oculatus having said that I've never seen either available for retail sale ( The only common name "red flush" I know is an aulonocara ) .

Happy hunting !

Thanks BJJ.

Maybe we should start a Lethrinops fanciers club, but without the fish.

The Red Flush in Pablo Tepoots book is Lethrinops Parvidens and it's a stunner.

What's happened to L Oculatus? They are here, from previous ads, but no responses.

Cheers,

Pete

Lethrinops, really nice looking fish, pity they are as rare as hens teeth. I rarely see them at any LFS so best of luck finding them. Last time I saw them was about 4 years ago at St George Aquariums.

Foai/Furcier - Are tangs and not related to lethrinops in any way. Amazing fish, more so then the lethrinops IMO.

As for the market of fry, dont make this the only factor when purchasing your fish :) keep em cause you want to own something different.

Great fish

Had some of these up to 2/3 years ago

I sold fry but to A shops, so should be some out there

They were hard to sell so i got rid off my colony

Mike W has some Lethrinops for sale on here, but $$$$'s

But by that site your going to have to dig deep

Cy furcifer have been good seller's, more popular than the Lethrinops i think
