fishface
How many red zebra varietys are there in Aust? I know of the common blue M/red F normally labeled Ps. estherae, and the line bred "pulu point". I was once told of another lake variety which is all red, do we have those? also im seeing a few different shades of red lately, kinda peachy color. Any clarification most helpful. Im looking to add some but like to know what im getting.
fishface
Here's some reds I just picked up. Due to the difference in sizes I would say there was 3-4 batches in this tank and they all looked the same type, some a little more orange, others slightly paler, but none showed any hint of changing into blue males. I was told they stay red. They dont look like "pulu point" to me, Ive had those previously and they have distinctive white spots. Do you think i'll end up with blue males here or is there another species of red zebra? Also there is noticeable black speckles on the heads and top fins, are these spirulina spots Ive read about? they seem healthy and are just about the most active in my tank, and the least camera shy after just 2 days! Priscacara
Nice looking fish! I'm newly returned to fish keeping so dont really know any species to help you, I do like looking at other peoples pics though :-). I Recently got a juvenile red zebra as a display fish, female with a very orange color. No pics of any of the latest additions just yet , they are all still settling in. mcloughlin2
Almost every petshop and aquarium can order through bayfish in NSW, QLD and VIC. However unless it is the store's main supplier they will only do sporodic orders, so hence you need to talk to your local aquarium and ask if they can order through bayfish. If your lucky you may get the fish within the week, however if the store uses another wholesaler as the main and bayfish is a secondary source you may be in for a long wait. BJJ-Master
Auburn Aquarium orders through Bayfish ... And they'll give you a better price on ordered fish than display stock (which is good because their prices are usually a joke)

dobbin4
Some of these look like tangarine to me as stated? But you dont say size so hard to say Bottom pic middle one even looks like an albino but for the eyes, very dull, So sorry to say look like crosses!!!!! Not red Zeb's,,, Bad to say this as red Zebra can mean just about any old Zeb that looks red. Better if you have the proper name from the shop. Most importers have this but the shops just put Red Zeb on them, not helping you at all. Try to ask them the name they were brought under. I thought the red started out the reddy colour then changed to blue for the boys ? girls stay the same colour Do a search to find info Then you will know for sure Most shops will give you discount if you order and pickup fish when they arrive.10-40% depends where
