tootie
hi guys, just wanted to know what type of rocks would be suitable for my electric yellows/blues and convicts and does anyone know any places that sell these rocks that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for it in sydney? thanks. Hi, I have a mixture of rocks and some white colour ones (I have no idea what type they are - but they look good in the tank) in my cichlid tanks. I bought most of my rocks from St. George Aquarium in Rockdale. I have found there prices to be the best around. They also have a massive selection both upstairs and in there workshop at the back. They are very helpful and will tell you the best to put in your tank. Don't know if you have been there or not, but at the same time as having a look at the rocks you can check out the cichlids - they have a whole back room full of them (in tanks, of course). They are open saturday but close sunday. Cheers, Tootie

kai
Hi guys, thanks for the reply, went by st george this arvo, and wasn't too impressed with what they had, and anything thats decent are $150+ . with regards to river stone, and sandstone, do you guys know if its legal to pick them up off beachs etc? like just loose ones on the ground?, i'm not gonna bring a hammer drill and dig myself a nice looking piece even though its tempting lol
pjmowens
im not too sure if it is illegal but the easiest option would be to just visit a couple of landscape supplies places and feel guilt free...
jamie2548
Hi kai.. Your answer to the question about getting rocks off the beach. Yes it is illegal to remove materials from the beach. especially national park. Big fines!!! have an uncle that works for national parks and they dont take it lightly. Try Age of Aquariums link up top of page. I just received some carrab' sea rock 23KG for $150 and got a box with atleast 11 different sizes and shapes Looks fantastic and well worth the money. I will post my tank set up soon for you to have a look. hope this helps
