wolvo23
I posted a topic on the 4th feb about possible worms, symptoms being white and clear stringy faeces. I have been treating them everyday since with metronidazole in their food. I have never actually seen any worms. I have tried worming them with panicure and fluke and tapeworm tablets. Everyone i have spoken to thinks its intestinal worms. I have treated them once with a bird wormer called "worm ender plus" but it doesn't seem to be making much difference. Since first buying the fish around the 1st dec 08 they have made improvements. However its still clear and white occasionally, but mainly a light caramel colour. Is this normal? Is there something else i can be treating them for? All water perimeters are fine. I have been feeding them froaen marine green with the metronidazole mixed in it and nutrafin spirulina sticks as well as wardley cichlid floating pellets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. Youve been introduced to the wonderful world of medication by guess work.... Stringy poo can be caused by lots of different things....and it can be normal. If youve been worming your fish then they are now free of worms...most worm medications need a single dose or two and then repeated two weeks later...continual worming for a month is way too much...I think you can safley stop now.... If the fish are active, eating well and otherwise healthy I wouldnt get myself into a lather over the colour of the poo....poo colour depends alot on what you are feeding them. You are very quickly reaching the point where you should just relax, put the medications in the cupboard and sit back adn enjoy your fish Regards Mike
wolvo23
Hi Mike, haha yeh you are probably right. Nice way of putting it. Just don't want to lose them. Was told the worms may have damaged their internals and they will never fully recover. Hope this isn't the case. Thanks for your advise.
