bdo.
I bought a 4' x 12" x 16" tank from a mate a few months ago in the hope of upgrading from my 2ft. Stupidly I assumed the tank was sweet and proceeded to siliconing some latex backing on straight away before testing it. Once I filled it up however I noticed a very slow leak. It appeared to be coming from somewhere along the back of the tank as this is where the condensation appeared as well as the drips. In attempt to fix it I packed a solid bead of silicon around all the bottom edges of the tank as well as up the side edges. Unfortunately though it continued to leak... My question basically is: is this tank worth salvaging or is the effort to do so too much to make it worthwhile? AND, If I am to fix it (which I wouldnt mind doing as there's a good $90 worth of backing on it letalone the price of the tank itself) how would I go about doing so?? Josh
You would have to cut the backing out of it to fix it, I would cut it out and buy a new tank Josh
bdo.
Yeh fair call, probably the best thing to do. Got a couple of 2fts it might be worth putting on to. And then, if I can be bothered, I might re-silicone the 4ft. Cheers mate, I'm not the best decision maker so appreciate the second opinion, and the rest haha. bdo.
Haha yeh I would, but he's in over his head at the moment financially, and emotionally actually, so I'm not gonna dump any more on him. Didn't cost me much and I believe that he didnt know anything about it so I'm just gonna leave it... For now anyway haha.
