ccmariners
I want to breed some malawi cichlids and i am just wondering what would be a good fish to start with. I have a 85L tank which is set up for malawi's.
Colfish
try some of the mbuna type, or peacocks, maybe electric blues or yellows. maybe stick with just 1 type to start with. get them around the 5cm size and it shouldn't be long before you have fry. as you learn from these, you can slowly add more species to the collection. keep the water clean and your filters serviced and all should go well

genetik_defekt
Sounds to me like your breeding them to sell. If so dont bother, its a fruitless industry money wise unless your willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars and even then you ll probably lose out. Ppl in this hobby do it for the love of it. If im wrong and you just wanna breed fish for fun then go ahead, but many enthusiests have been broken by the massive cost to breed on a smaller commercial scale. Just a heads up. luke001
maybe try some tanganyika or dwarf mbuna species because they stay small and will be happy in that sized tank. totally agree with 'yipp-e' dont do it for the cash or you'll be disappointed just do it because you enjoy it ( its a hobby remember ) warning once you start you cant get enough
mbuna man
Where are you going to put the fry? You have to grow them out for 3-4 months before you can sell them.
