newcichlid
Tropheus tend to do better with at least 15 or more in a colony but having said that i have seen them in a mix tank. The only issue i see would be the food as T are algae eaters. They also tend to colour up really well when there are females around to flash, not sure if you would get their best colours by themselves. They are also from Lake Tanganyika. I have my 22 T in their own 4ft tank and they are doing very well and have not tried them in a mix tank myself.
mcsx
Short answer for you; no, as newcichlid stated there is a big difference in all the feeding for all those fish, the frontosa's are carniverous, and also can eat smaller tropheus, the other fish are bad as they may nip the tropheus fins. and that tank isnt exactly big enough for more fish. let alone the fish in there will grow it out too. bdo.
I have seen a tropheus do really well in a mix tank, which included a number of the fish you have. It even appeared to be one of the more dominant fish in the tank and was beautifully coloured despite being the only tropheus in there... I think it will be very tank specific but my experience says its worth a shot!
roadhog07
I have a 240L tank and i want to no if i can get a tropheus. I have 1 maingano 1 electric yellow 1 electric blue 1 red empres 1 frontosa 1 l'hongi 1 jacobfreibergi 2 bristlenose 1 malawi blue dolphine 1 venustus 1 afra cobwe Hi there, I had a display tank, (I am currently selling the fish) which consisted of: 2x electric yellow 1x red empress 4x frontosa 2x blue dolphins 2x venustus 1x Tropheus Duboisi 1x Tropheus "Fire Cracker" A few bristlenose (maybe 5) I fed spirulina, vege wafers, feeder fish, brine shrimp (live meat, dead plant) etc. I am no cichlid expert (only novice) however I did not have any problems with the fish. None died, all where healthy etc etc. They were all together for around 2 years and still are (except for what has been sold.) Just remembering that some of your fish will grow rather large, so I believe you can get some Tropheus depending on the space you have left in your tank. Also depending on how big your fish currently are, as they may kill or eat your newly added tropheus. That's just my experience and am by no means contesting anything that anyone has said. Like I said I am no expert. Kind Regards, Nathan
