Jason
Hi All, After being hassled over the past few weeks, I've taken a quick little video of the Melo's also and the link is..... http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r239/Bu...ew¤t=Melos1.flv A few photos of the colony..... The following are Tropheus Mpulungu (from Jamie... parrdog) These are Tropheus Golden Kazumba (from Dave....moliroman) I couldn't get a decent shot of the wild caught Sibwesa furcifer but I'll keep trying.... Jason
Thanks all.... Joel I have 27 in the colony. Previous colonies of Melo's I've had over the years seem to be very male heavy. I've found that nearly always the fry seem to be a greater percentage male than females. However, I'd say this colony is about 50/50 which is fantastic. I've found that the extra males don't seem to bother breeding activity. The sub dominant ones tend to swim mid water with the females or spend most of the time sifting around in the sand at the back of the tank away from the three dominant males nests at the front. These guys have just started breeding. The first mouthful I got 17 fry which are about at the 3cm size now. I just stripped another female about 10 days ago and got 12 fry.
