azzah
As topic stated I have a 5x18x18 tank with a small crack in one the the side panels the crack is about 8cm, I caused the cracked when I picked it up on my own to put on my work bench so I could replace a panel that was cracked beyond repair. I siliconed a brand new panel in the end that was cracked beyond repair and to repair the 8cm crack that i caused I have siliconed a piece of glass that is the same thickness over the crack on the inside of the tank. It seems water tight but I want to know Will this be ok or is it destined to fail one day. I got this tank for free due to the cracked end panel so it has cost me $30 for the new piece of glass and was hoping not to spend more.
AzFish
I cracked a side panel not too long ago. The thing is, if the crack has not run its full course, fixing it IMO wont work as the crack still can run beyond the repair job. I pressed on the crack to let it run its full course then repaired it in the same way you describe above, its water tight and it worked so far

It is in the bottom left hand corner of the panel. I did put some pressure on it with my hands to see if it would crack further or if it could be pushed out and it didn't move. I will post a pic of the cracked glass when I get home tonight.
