kurohige
Hello, Just wondering how can I tell the difference between Aripuana I and II ? Thanks in advance.
ozarowana
Are you talking about real G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana I" and G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana II" or what is being sold incorrectly here as such?
kurohige
Are you talking about real G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana I" and G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana II" or what is being sold incorrectly here as such? Im talking about the real ones. How to tell them apart ? But since you touch on that topic, what has been sold incorrectly as G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana I" and G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana II" here ? Cheers.
ozarowana
Given that there is only three pics of G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana I" and one pic G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana II" in the Weidner book and a severe lack of pics on the internet I'm not even going to try. According to Weidner Ari I's compared to Ari II's have "a somewhat deeper body and a vividly patterned caudal fin." Neither species are here in Australia. G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana I" which is sold here as G. altifrons "Aripuana I", altifrons I etc are in fact a variant of G. abalios (locality unknown). What is sold as G. cf. altifrons "Aripuana II" is really G. sp. "Rio Branco".
