steve24cro
I have some plastic eheim piping with no holes in it, im going make it into a spray bar, its 13mm diameter and quite smooth, is there any tips on drilling it for a spray bay? Im thinking if i use a normal cordless drill and drillbit it will slide everywhere as its smooth and round and quite small. Any ideas? im thinking a drill press

Go slowly and start with a 1/8th drill bit then to 3mm. I have noticed buy drilling the holes bigger it does not work as well. cheers

Freemason2250
Yep start with a tiny drill bit and then go back through the whole with bigger bits
KIMO
Don't forget to place a bung or plug at one end.
Freemason2250
Maybe even start the holes with a soldering iron?
Josh
Get a good sharp bit, start the drill off slow and hold the plastic in a vice or something to hold it tight. I have larger holes in mine, but the trick is to get the right amount of holes to make the bar work well
Eddie Salita
Another tip. Once you have drilled the holes, you will find there is a bur around them on the inside. This will make the stream of water coming out a bit messy rather than a nice straight round stream. You can try and remove it with anything that will do the job. A small file, piece of sandpaper or whatever.... macgyver skills required here. The perfect tool is a copper pipe deburring tool. Such as these: http://www.deburringtools.com/deburringtoolswithhandles.html You can get a cheapy for a few bucks from a tool shop. You need to be very careful the drill bit doesnt bite and crack the brittle plastic those things are made of. As suggested, go very slowly with very minimal pressure starting with a small drillbit and working up. Soldering iron will work too, but same issue with the bur. cheers, Jason
