gianniz
I recently bought a big lot of hikari bloodworms and for the last 2 weeks I have been feeding my fish heavily on bloodworms (cause they liked it! lol) It's been two days since I ran out of bloodworms and went back to dry foods like colourbits, nls, hikari wafers and few others. I can see they aren't really interested in them. They eat but not like the frenzy I see whenever i fed my fish frozen bloodworms Is there anyway to reproduce this frenzy without having to dirtying my fingers (I just hate touching bloodworms, it's kinda grose! lol)
petshopdude
you could try live, but might get a bet expensive. dry ones are also out there but i still find they love seeing that red cubes hit the tank:)
Richard
Don't feed them for 2-4 days and then bring them back onto the dry foods. The frenzy should reproduce due to them being overly hungry. Over time you just have to accept that fish will never have that frenzy with dry foods as they do with the live/frozen stuff, thus why we use those as a treat or spawn trigger. HTH, Richard. gianniz
thanks guys for your advice. ps. I did try live bloodworms (blackworms??) that I paid $5 and got a big scoop of it. The shop assistance told me it's enough to feed all my fish (standard 4footer) for the next couple of days. It lasted 3 minutes
phatoscarlover
Just a warning with the blackworms, if you have gravel in the tank alot of them will dig into the gravel and can survive for ages! They will raise the ammonia though if they get into the gravel and die. Throw some salt into the tank (if you have fish that can tolerate it) and all the blackworms will stick up out of the gravel HTH Cheers Andy
