scottyw_000
In my cichlid communitiy tank, 3 of my fish have taken home in various caves and shelters and are basically spending there entire time inside them. They wont even come out for food, and it has got me worrying. This has been going on for a few days now. One other fish is still swimming around happily but is no longer eating either. The other 7 fish are uneffected. Ammonia levels are zero and pH is around 7.5 and i have recently done a water change which resulted in no change. Any suggestions or ideas to why these fish are not moving around in the tank or eating, im thinking they could be sick? There are no visible changes or spots etc on the fish, however one is alot darker in colour than normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. electricyellowz
What type of fish are they? Do you know any of the other paramaters of your water like nitrites or nitrates??
scottyw_000
One is a Lionhead, the other is a cobolt cross and not sure of the name of the other fish. No i have no other info on nitrates or nitirites but i do put cycle in weekly and at last water change i put a little extra Prime in the tank which i believe removes nitrites etc.
azzah
I have a tank with a colony of venustus that hide constantly and don't always eat when I drop food in but they are constant breeders. Have gotten 400-500 babies out of them in the last 3 months with another mouthful due in a week so they may be fine
scottyw_000
I have lost 2 in the last few days. Took a sample water to shop all the parameters are ok, pH was a little low but nothing drastic, bumped it up to right level. 2 fish are still efffected and i think now possibly a third. One is definately stressed, very dark in colour. The other is just not eating at all, the third is beginning to stay stationary in one position, behind cave etc which is unusual for this fish. I treated with Tri-sulpha on monday and then re-treated on weds, and it has made no change. Only thing i can say is there is a few black specks on one of the effected fish's tail, however cannot confirm if it was there before. Any help guys? I reported this to my lfs and they guy was stumped, so i am kind of worried.
