worms in gravel

Hi all,

Whist i was cleaning the gravel in my tank i came across a few worms in my gravel and im not sure if thats a good thing or not the worms were red in colour and about half an inch to an inch long i should of taken a pic but i didnt think of it at the time but if anyone has any ideas in what they are or have had the same problem could you please give me any advice in what they are or what they could be.

also in how to get rid of them if they are a problem as the gravel is not new it has been in the tank for almost 12 months now and cleaned on regular basis.

they arn't live bloody worms are they?

Hi

No they aint blood worms as the tank they were in was a tropheus dub tank but the worms look the same colour as the blood worm.Now i wish i took pic of them.

I had worms in my gravel too before, im not sure sure if the worms you had was the same ones as i had but one of my severums ate it and had no problem my fish didnt get sick or anything

It was around 7cm long and it was black, and there were quite a few of them too...found them when i was lifting the rocks and they were under there.

hi - i wont let the fish have the worm since they cant be identified. To get rid of them from the gravel may be some guys can suggest how as there may be worm eggs in the gravel. Why not get rid of the gravel and change to a new one.

Hi all thanx for the all the help i have since taken the gravel out and gave it a good clean and now im going to start the tank from scratch Cheers all
