gingerbeer
A poll I am interested in hearing opinions. This poll is not aimed at changing the view of this board. It is actually for a discussion I am having with another hobbyist.
kingtiger
I don't see how this stop people from selling Hybrids as there are tonnes of FH going around at the moment. Cheers
Ben
I don't think anyone can honestly answer your poll. I can honestly say that ACE (SCP etc.) has defiantly increased the awareness of hybrids. Due to this it is safe to assume that there has been a reduction but is it the hobbyist who sustains the hybrid population or the wholesalers? crossback
Even if ace will not allow hybreed other site dose and you are alright there are ton around and everybody is still buying them
Matty
I doubt that ACE is trying to diminish the amount of hybrids in the country or for sale, it's just the ethics of the forums (and fish breeding). ACE just tries to make people aware that hybrids are not good for the industry.
crossback
I do support ACE on this matter
ant265
I feel that ACE is doing everything they can to discourage hybridization and im sure pure hobbyists frown upon it or outright hate it but the general public just wanting a display tank wouldnt even think about it they would just want nice looking fish
keleher
some of the most popular fish are hybrids discus, fighters and angels are a few and they make up a large portion of the industry. however i am against mongrel fish being purposely bred or sold as a pure species. as its already been said creating awareness is the key to reducing hybridization intentionally or accidentally amongst hobbyist, to keep the beautiful species we already have pure. cobaltcraig
Hi Steve My two bobs worth on this is the following Does it effect the sales of Hybrids Answer probally no However with Australias tough import bans on new fish coming into the country we must protect the pure stains we have here not only for our enjoyment but for future cichlid breeding generations So I would strongly support anything be it a ban here or do my best in talking people out of creating hybrids now and in the future remember once we lose our pure strains they are most probally lost forever Cheers Craig P
