Cool Parrots Sarah,

My uncle used to have a female eclectus named 'Jatz'

It eventually flew away and we never saw it again :(

I would love to keep some of these, but I once had a very noisy Alexandrine parrot that turned me off birds... <_<

Are you planning to breed these?

Must be pretty exciting.

Cheers

Joel

Hey you... great to see you here again

They look great :wub

Zac and Coco the crazy ringnecks are keeping me very amused especially when they overtake the cockatiels cage every day...take baths and crap in their drinking water, upturn their seed and remove anything they can carry into their own cage next door :lol3:

Would love some ecclectus....conures.....macaws :zipit:

thanks everyone, and yes its been a while..

ringnecks are not known for their quiet nature lol, they are pretty active birds,

i would love more birds, but too hard to find babysitters for all of them, i hope one day they might breed well i know Archie my boy is wishing his girl was a lot older alas he will have to wait at least another 18months before she is ready. As for my plucked boy he came from a stressful environment so although there is hope he might one day give up on destroying his feathers , he may never quit.

oh eckies can be quite noisy sometimes, they have a very loud screech that can be deafening at times lol lucky they rarely screech !!

They are absolutely gorgoeous. I just love Eckies :).

Just one question, how much time per day do you think you dedicate to them? Don't worry, I know it will be alot. Oh one more if I may. Do you think it is ok to keep one as a companion bird?

Thankyou,

Jamie.

hi Jamie

these are i reckon a high maintenance parrot, not just their diet but they love attention and can get easily stressed and in like Basils case turn to plucking, they require a diet of 80% fruit and veg every day and only 20% pellets or seed .

mine are out from 9-6 pm every day , sometimes they will be locked up for a couple of hours, well usually archie as he is naughty if im out, but chillie i leave out she is a good girl lol , basil has to be locked up in case he falls , but they love company and actively seek you out, one is perfect to keep on their own, but keep in mind they need time, and they are messy eaters , im constantly cleaning around their cages, as they throw food everywhere,

if you dont have a lot of spare time i would suggest an easier bird, its easy to get very attached to them as they are great characters and great talkers .

im home all the time so they get a fair bit of attention lol, its important to spend the same amount of time with them right from the start and not over do it .
