generally its discouraged as the hotwater can have more metals disolved in the water. Best to do smaller waterchanges that do not throw out the temperature so much.

But I recently helps move a fishroom and we had to use hot tap water to avoid killing fish. Happy to say we didnt lose a single fish and there was lots of delicate stuff.

So ya, best not too.... but its not the end of the world if you do.

Last winter we had a blackout and I had to float 1/3 filled buckets full of hot water (gas hot water heater) in tanks to prevent them chilling too much. lol drama!

That would have been a bit of a juggling act, floating the buckets of hot water in the tanks.

Glad it all worked out ok – the things we do :wub

Thanks for the reply, I have use the hot tap water, but that little voice I so often tell to hush, and regret it has been telling me its not a very good idea.

Thought I would ask, the experts :raisehand:

I'll add my 2 cent "expert" advice.

When i do my water changes, i use the hot/cold mixer in the kitchen. You know the type that has one lever to mix the cold and hot water. I've been doing it this way since i started and have not had a problem.

As long as you use water conditioners (i only use Prime) it should be ok.
