fishrocks
Hey guys, my geo tapajos are breeding! Today they layed around 50 eggs on a slate. Previously layed eggs on it before but unsuccessful because of overhead filter. I've removed the overhead filter and added sponge filters. What should i do guys? And when should i catch the fries? electricyellowz
Are the common bn in the same side of the tank as the geos? If so they will try to eat the eggs!
fishrocks
oh ok so i should remove the BNs? i think they are holding at the moment..still aggressive. Should i continue feeding as normal?
kingtiger
I have no problem with my Geo's with catfishes. The only problem I have is the bloody female not doing her job after the male release the frys. I think you just have to let them practice and get the hang on it. Cheers Hilton
fishrocks
they've tried 11 times...but 9/11 times before i had a overhead filter which ran water right on the breeding area so greatly reduced sperm reaching the eggs..
fishrocks
they r still quite aggressive..should i continue feeding as normal if there are fries in their mouths?
kingtiger
The dad should ignour the food which is what mine does. He'll not eat for 2 weeks but the bloody mum eat like pig. Cheers Hilton
peter-pindare
just let them be...hilton is right they wont bother eating until they relase the fry, and thats when you should feed them..if you want to raise your fry then remove them from parents and raise them on your own..keep them in the same tank but sparate them from parents. fishrocks
just let them be...hilton is right they wont bother eating until they relase the fry, and thats when you should feed them..if you want to raise your fry then remove them from parents and raise them on your own..keep them in the same tank but sparate them from parents. i tried doing that once when i saw the fries come out of their mouths but when i get close to the tank they would just collect the fries back into their mouth ><
peter-pindare
ok then when they collect the fry back into there mouth net the parent and strip the fry out , and then raise the fry. do you ubderstand that?
