BOG6ON
I bought these cichlids about 6 months ago and when the where young they were all the same colour yellow. As they have gotten bigger the females have gone a white colour and the male has gone a more brighter yellow. Both the male and female get a blue shimmer over thier body when in the sun, and when the male is showing off he gets a blue line across his dorsal Male http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll306/B...nt=100_0499.jpg Female http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll306/B...nt=100_0444.jpg Female http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll306/B...nt=100_0421.jpg Male http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll306/B...nt=100_0415.jpg Thanks. Surtac
Hi, Luke They look a lot like Metriclima Estherae Pulu point Zebra. I am not certain. Perhaps someone with a little more experience can help out. Wayne
WAZ
I am thinking more like Metriaclima barlowi, because of the blue tinge through the fins.

BOG6ON
The sexes of the fish are definatly right cause the yellow one has been doing his little dance and showing off and i have had the white ones with small mouth fulls. They have been in thier own tank since i got them and as i said they were all identical when i got them, and then they changed colours. Thanks for your help so far guys! Realy appreciated. weow
ive had the same fish for about 3 years his about 14 cm and i have never knows what species it is, its exactly the same as the one in the picture above wid the blueish tinge going threw it only alot bigger , his very agressive cos i grew him up with americans he use to ways get picked on, know those bigger americans are gone and i have new fish in there he picks on my jack dempsey red devil that are a little bigger then him and a heap of africans. MVP
I'm pretty convinced it may be a Pseudotropheus Flameback. From what i was reading on them there seems to be some differences between these guys and what a "flameback" is like. Heres a link ne way: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1461 http://www.gcca.net/fom/Pseudotropheus_sp_flameback.htm
Josh
Probably because the "flameback" we have here is from a different lake. Josh
pennywise
to me it looks like my male Pseudotropheus hajomaylandi but a little more yellow/orange then mine
MVP
I think the completely yellow ones are the ones confusing the issue as to species. Edited April 29, 2008 by MVP
ford2
looks like my old hajomylandi,s
dobbin4
Thats not a hajo as its yellow all over?? hajo are more yellow in the head with a little on the body, when i had them 10year ago. The head of a hajo is more like a morrii. Ps flameback !! I dont think they are in Aus?? Then you can see in your pic MVP not yellow all over like that male. Mel barlowi is the closest I can see but as said not with females that whiteish colour?? Did you find out the name supplied by the seller Luke.?? Nice looking fish i think. Mbuna
I would say they look like tangerne zebra's. a line bred strain strain of estherae's. def. not hajomaylandi.
