Paulochromis
Hi all, I was on another forum, and in one of their joke threads, there was mention of CLR-Clear. I hadn't heard of it before. Is this the plastic cleaner that you can get at the car parts shops? Is it safe to use on aquariums (i.e. won't affect silicone)? I have a couple of large secondhand tanks with scaly glass that I'd like to clean. I've used Sera pH down in the past, which is ok, but if there's anything better would like to try. Cheers, Paul. kilroy
Hi Paul, I wouldn't risk it personally. That stuff is very powerful. My mother used it to clean a coffee machine a few years ago, and it took about a month for the milk to stop curdling every time a pot of coffee was made. Paulochromis
Thanks for the replies. Sounds a little risky! I've always been partial to vinegar (but normally the fish are dead and there are hot chips on the side). Cheers,
chickenman
a non scratch scourer and bicarb soda also works

Old Dave
You might try a weak mixture of your pH chemicals on a chux or similar. Whichever one you normally add, use the opposite! Good luck. Dave

fishdance
I have used CLR without any ill effects but I recommend you use a reputable car polish cutting paste instead. It takes off a thin layer of glass.
