brucem
Hi all, I've got 4 blue occies and currently they are in one of my fry tanks. When I put some new fry in the tank, they are quite inquisitive of the shells in the tank and I sure a few of them fall victim to a raging occellatus protecting its home. I was thinking about setting up a small tank for the occies, but was wondering if you can keep them with other shellies (like caudopunks) or other fish and have them breed succesfully. I think I have 1 male, 2 females and 1 unkown (which is much yellower than the other 3 and I wondering if it is a gold occie, even though I purchased it as a blue). Thanks Bruce
Chilli Powder
Bruce, If the tank is big enough, you can keep the blue occies and caudos. In my 6x2x18, there are 16 gold occies, 4 caudos, 4 buesheri, 10 ps elongatus chwere, breeding trio of black calvus and juvenile gold comps! The gold occies and the caudos breed all the time! brucem
Wow! I thought that Altos and shellies was a no-no. So do the occies and caudo's successfully raise the fry in that tank?? I thought that the fry would be snavelled up by the others. Bruce
Chilli Powder
So do the occies and caudo's successfully raise the fry in that tank?? Hell NO. The free swimming fry will last for about two weeks and start disappearing!
az1
Hi Bruce You could keep Cyprichromis leptosoma malasa with the shellies. They will both keep breeding. It just so happens that I have some for sale Cheers Andreas
