scott_to4
hey, i recently got a small colony of maingano what appears to be maybe 2M and 5F. I havnt been watching themm too closely i was just wondering if they breed and i leave the mother in the tank with the rest of the colony, will the fry be eaten when she spits them out. The maingano are the only fish in the tank. 4x14x20 thanks

dobbin4
I agree,, why not put her in a lg frysaver with some plastic plant to give the fry a go when she spits. I've found the female leaves the fry if its done like this and means you only need to see a mouthfull in the first 14 + days.
scott_to4
so dobbin4 your saying even the mother will possibly eat the fry???
Sarah
there is no guarantee that the female might snack on her fry , if you are worried separate the female once she spits,
