philjo1
I was just wondering if anyone has ever purchased fish food overseas. eg: NLS and brought it through Australian Customs. I am in China for a short period for work and was hoping to pick up food cheap. But it won't be cheap if I can't get it through customs I asked a Customs Officer at Sydney airport and he said " I think it should be ok, just declare it as food and you will find out". Not exactly a positive answer.. Thanks Phil
KIMO
Why risk it. You pay for it over there and if it gets confiscated, you've done your dollars. "I think it should be ok" sound very dubious to me. Personally, I wouldn't risk it....but i always tend to play it safe. KimO.
Josh
People have tried having it sent over and it has been confiscated. I dont know of anyone who has bought it back themselves. I also think its not worth the trouble to save a few bucks. Josh

huzzy
Yep, its not allowed into the country due to quarantine laws. Your much better buying some stuff off our suppliers, for the sake of a couple of dollars.
kilroy
Yep, I'm one of the dummies that got caught. Only cost me about $80 for 2.27kg and an extra $200 if I wanted to get a permit to bring it in!

Willy Wombat
The best way to check the quarantine regulations in Australia is by using the import conditions database http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon The relevant page is here http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_casec...;LogSessionID=0 This is what it says 1. An Import Permit is required for all animal food products of animal (including fish), plant, or microbial origin. This includes food supplements, amino acids and enzymes for stockfeed, bait, aquaculture or pet feed use. So you can do it but you need a permit and they cost $$$
