philjo1
I have recently purchased 2 multi's. They have been in the tank for 4 days. I have supplied them with some shells which I have no idea what they are. The fish swim to the shells, go in head first and then reverse out. They do not seem to spend any time near the shells at all. Preferring to swim around the tank or behind a rock. They are not doing any of the digging, bulldozing etc that people speak about. My questions are should the fish be able to turn around inside the shell?? Are the shells not big enough? Am I just not giving them time to settle in? Thanks Phil
BaZ
4 days isn't long. Give them some time to settle in before you expect them to start re-arranging the tank. I'd also recommend more than just 2. My multis always did well in a group of 6 or more, and I think for such a small fish they will gain more confidence in numbers. I used a variety of shells. Some of them would allow the fish to turn around, some meant the fish had to back out. Photos would help us tell whether the shells are wrong at all
philjo1
Baz Thanks for the reply. Having trouble finding any Multi's in Adelaide. Found 1 shop with them. To my very untrained eye they look to be all males. So I thought I would get the biggest and smallest and cross my fingers. But I am on the search for more, Thanks Phil
