TropheusQueen
exactly how does it work, how do you pack them? and how long can fish survive? sorry just curious cause I have wanted to buy fish interstate but never knew how to organise shipping Fish are double bagged and gooseneck tied with rubberbands. O2 and a water conditioner such as Prime are added. They are placed in a plastic and newspaper lined or absorbent padded approved (weight stamped on lid) styro-foam box with lid taped closed with tape. The boxes are marked as Live Fish. I use both AAE and Virgin Freight and both have their pluses and drawbacks who will place the boxes on hopefully the next available flight out., Timings will depend on where the fish are flown to. WA has stricter restrictions than most with the fish inspected by AQIS before being released and any bit of sand, plant or gravel in the bags will see the whole shipment destroyed. They also have times where they are not there so it is vital to check so that the fish aren't left on the tarmac. Weight is calculated by volume and weight and shipping is paid by the buyer. The seller will normally let you know the consignment and flight number after the fish have been booked in and all that is left is for the buyer to pick up the fish. Fish travel for a couple of days when coming from overseas so a few hours interstate causes them little grief and yes fry travel better that adults just like humans HTH
