I use prime for my water changes.

the reason i chose prime was it is the market leader and not a big difference in price when you work out cents per water change.

thanks peter

I use safe, just because I could get it in the powder form and have never really used anything else

Prime and safe are basically the same thing, but you cant store safe mixed in water anymore for long periods because Prime has something added to keep it 'fresh'.

I used to use prime,

then used safe for some time

but recently purchased prime (actually pond prime which is exactly the same as prime product but with different instructions as it's targetted at pond usage)

I find it easier to use in liquid form than powder and seachem recommend against making up a batch of safe into liquid form and keeping it around so prime suits me better.

I prefer safe/prime to the other options I've tried because... ummmm ...errrr... 'cos I just plain feel slightly warmer, fuzzier and safer using it :-), particularly for bagging fish. You use such small quantities that saving a few cents on a cheaper alternative just doesn't "feel" compelling.

How many times has this topic come up over the years?

Safe is the active ingredient in Prime. Prime is a better product that Safe as it has added to it such things as slime coat replacement.

If you are treating your fish properly Safe is all that is needed. The smell, though off, does in no way effect the efficiency of the product.

Safe is cheaper to use.

Prime is regarded as the best water conditioner on the market, which I use to add to fish bags when transporting but have used Safe in my water change containers for years.

of course safe also has the distinct advantage of helping to ensure I don't fall asleep on those long drives back to canberra after nswcs meetings. Driving along with a kilo bag of white powder stashed in the glove box tends to keep you on your toes and attentive as you wave cheerily at the traffic cops.

Just the thing if you're trying to cut down on coffee :B

i use bio-tec water conditioner does the smae as prime 1ml to 38L and cheap as well

Prime, 5ml treats 200 ltrs,

was an aquarium pharmacutical fan, untill the lfs stopped stocking the 500ml bottle.

then went to safe,[shared in bulk purchase] but now i buy Prime in 2ltr size

i'm not fussed about the 'added' slime coat. if you keep the water good, the fish don't need the added

slime coat. maybe it's just a brand thing. but i trust the 'brand'
