Robbo2232
Hi all, Just wanting to know how much turn over I would need to get a good current to pick up all the crap of the bottom of my tank? It’s a 4x2x2 I all ready have a 1200 Lph canister filter but the waste seems to settle just in front of the inlet. I was thinking a power head filter in the opposite corner of the inlet. Any ideas would be great! Thanks Rob
electricyellowz
You could have a power head pointing at the filter inlet and have it push the crap towards the inlet and up it goes. I would recommend adding another canister or more powerheads just for mechanical filtration as I use one 1200lph canister on a standard 4ft tank. Robbo2232
if i pointed a power head at the inlet i would have to fix the power head on the front glass to keep the cirucation from the spray bar going in the same direction. shoud i let the power head fight the circulation of the spray bar? or should i just put it in the same direction that the water is already going?? Stuart74
With your current spray bar I would place it around 10-15cm under the waters surface and aim it towards the surface that creates a wave/ripple affect at the waters surface which in turn eventually will create a wave/ripple effect on the bottom of the tank which should help with shifting your fish waste. In saying that it wouldn't hurt to have another filter on that size tank anyway HTH
Out of Africa
Hi , I'm not a huge fan of my canister filters getting clogged with crap , I believe they are for biological filtration. I have 2x 304's ( fluval and an Aquaclear 500 ) all on my 5x2x2 which is not that much bigger that your 4x2x2. I have made a clear rubber hose extension for the aqua clear to be 10cm from the bottom of my tank so it picks up alot! I believe you should do your weekly gravel vacuum though, as this is the real way to deal with debris in your tank. Hope that helps
Ben Eatoff
On my 4x2x2 i have two Aqua-one 1200 LPH canister filters. Either outlet at each end, one with a spraybar and the other just standard outlet.
