Spyder
Hey, woke up this morning to find one of my female cyp's had just released some fry, but found that there were only 3, and when i saw here beforehand it certainly looked like she was holding a lot more than that (she was bulging!). Anyway the only recent addition were two cuckoo cats, nothing else in the tank has ever been harmful in the past, are these guys known to eat fry at all? thnx, Ben. Ben Eatoff
Naturally they'll eat other cichlid's eggs and let them swallow their own.. I wouldnt see why they wouldnt eat fry. They are quite hungry little guys too! Any other fish in the tank?
Bruce
I assume she spat overnight as well. The catfish are nocturnal so they would've have preyed on the cyps then as the cyps don't fair so well at night. Bruce
poncho
Is it fair to assume the same applies for the petricolas? Also, what's that fish in your avatar Bruce?
Bruce
I think you could say the same for petricola. It is a Callochromis pleurospilus "Red Stripe Maswa" Bruce
