Arrafanatic
Hi Guys, I would like to add a large piece of driftwood to my 8x3(w)x2(h) tank, which contains numerous large active fish. (Silver Arowana, Cigar Shark, Tinfoil Barbs, etc). The tank as it is is pretty bare, with a single piece of driftwood located at roughly each end of the tank. The middle section has been left clear for maximum swimming space for the fish. The piece i would like to add has numerous branches/roots that are quite sharp, and after positioning the piece, will be located in the middle ranges of the water column (ie at the height most of the fish swim within). My question is: could the fish potentially become impailed on the roots if they go for a dash, or at night, due to sporadic chasing etc?, or will they be able to adjust with their new surroundings? Has anyone had any experiences with fish getting badly injured or impailed on sharp roots/branches? Any help would be appreciated Regards Arrafanatic
aquadog
Not spiked, but I lost a Boesemani that tried to swim through a small crack in a mangrove root and got stuck
fishdance
Yes, I have had fish do this. Why dont you get an angle grinder to it? Or a power sander?
D6C1
Best to remove any sharp bits from the wood before the fish can hurt themselves... Better safe than sorry.
