justcichlids
as the topic suggests can you mix fry as they grow? if possible i have maingano, electic yellows, electric blues, hongis, and venustus. the tank i'm planning to use is a 6 footer probably sectioned off witn 2 to three species in each section. also should i only keep fry/ juvies that are the same size? any advice is appreciated cheers JD
Ash
So long as they are easily identified from each other, have the similar diet, similar water perameter requirements & similar size/growthrate - knock yourself out.
david11
I currently have all the fish listed in the above topic in a grow out tank with the exclusion of the hongis. They seem to do fine however if you are going to leave them to grow for a while it may be best to put the venustus in at a later / smaller stage. The same could be said for the maingano. They tend to pick on the others a little if they are bigger. Some tend to out grow the others. If you put them in a few weeks later, at a month or two they will all be a similar size. I definately would not add new fry to the tank if there are fish that are older than a 2-3 months. Once this time period has gone its time to clear out or set up another tank if these are the fish you want to breed. You could divide the tank like you said, should work just as well. Cheers, David
