I wonder what customs would do with it also... In all honesty, but the time you pay for 20-30 shipping on top... for another $20-30 you get it delivered from a store & you know its perfectly new etc.

Ok, so its $36 more... but basically The Reef Shop currently have free postage on their tubs at $119.90. Sorry I was throwing some random figures in the air, but overall its not really much more for piece of mind and generally a 2 or 3 day delivery time.

I would be really careful ordering anything from the states unless it is books and magazines. Aqis are likely to seize the order if it has anything to do with fish food, aqaurium chemicals etc. Been there done that.

I can testify to that. I lost a 2.27kg tub of NLS to customs. The only way to get them in is to buy an importers license for a couple of hundred bucks, so unless you are bringing in lots and lots, don't bother.

I have to agree with the above regarding customs seizing it....I have had a lot of fishing lures (soft plastics) seized as they were marked as bait, I would guess anything perishable would not be allowed through the normal channels.

Anything that is food, animal or not will be seized by aqis.

This is fine as long as you have an import licence for the product. To obtain an import licence will cost you around $260 for the application. For the licence to be granted you need a complete ingredients list and description on the manufacturing process, and it will need to comply with aqis regulation on what is and isnt allowed. Good luck getting that info out of pablo in the first place unless you have a commercial agreement with him.

If you cant get this info you can always just send it to be gamma irradiated (arguments about what this does to the food nutritionally aside), which will cost you about $60.

Your $500 bucket of NLS is really cheap now!

I've done this for horse foods before and dealt with very rude manufacturers. In the long run its cheaper and easier to deal with local importers.

hi,

If my memory serves me correctly you could have snapped up a tub of this stuff at the 'Gong auction for under $80/tub. Might be worth keeping an eye on the monthly club auctions to see if they appear there though I don't imagine you'd get 'em quite that cheap again... the cold in the 'Gong was keeping peoples hands in their pockets :-).
