mofomk1
HI, just had some queries about setting up an emergency hospital tank. This morning i have recently dosed my six footer with tapeworm and fluke medication and this afternoon my big green terror (who was fine earlier) is not looking to healthy. He is not floating upright and is gasping for air. the rest of the fish are fine. I want to set up an emergency hospital tank, is this the right thing to do. if i use fresh water from teh tap treated with prime and at the right conditions will this be ok to put him in? or should i use water from teh tank to treat him in. i was just gonna try and treat him with some general medication and melafix. Any other suggestions? The hospital tank is a standard two footer and has never been set up before cheers hayden

mofomk1
hey thanks for the advice. I left him in the 6fter did a 40 percent water change and added some salt and melafix. i also added a couple of extra air stones, but alas this morning we was dead. is a shame he was my fav fish and also one of my breeders. just wish that sometimes i could speak fish, or there was a fish vet. Barca888
Sorry to hear about your loss. Can you tell me what medication you used? I have a similar situation in that I have to treat for a parasite. Was your GT in good condition before treating?
mofomk1
hi. My GT was in top shape, he and his partner had just spawned and he was the second biggest guy in the tank. I just used aquamaster fluke and tapeworm tablets to treat the water and i didn't even use the full dose. Not sure if maybe he became constipated while trying to excrete the worms. wish i knew so i could prevent it in the future. hth
