Another T's question

My Ilangi are still small which some of you might already know.

I've notice a lot of fighting going on in the left hand side of the tank and one T's already claimed the right hand side.

My question is do only male vs male fight for supremacy or female does it as well or male vs female?

Is that an indication of how many male I have in the colony?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi Parallel,

Great to see u are asking plenty of questions!

From my experience, the males usually fight with each other for territory or to determine dominance. But just today i noticed a female with a mouthfull fighting another female probably over who is number 1 female for the alpha male. I have yet to see males fight females.

Keep an eye on them, as juveniles it is very unlikely for the aggression to excalate to death.

Thanks for the info.

I'm getting a lot of bumping and circling at the moment but nothing major.

Can't keep my eye off these T's as I have them next to my lounge. Fantastic fish.

When my Moliro colony was growing up I had one larger more aggressive individual that would ingage in liplocks with other Moliros I always thought it was a male until it held and produced fry. It has since settled down and of the colony of 16 im only certin of 2 being males.
