Lamprologus brevis Chaitika

I have a bonded pair and it looks like they have spawned, as the female is staying in the entrance to the shell and the male is furiously protecting his area.

Is this common behaviour after a spawn or are they just setting up a territory.

If they have spawned what is the best way to care for these guys and how many babies are there to a usual brood.

Fingers Crossed.

Cheers

Mike

If they have spawned, just get some live bbs hatching, just like you would any other shelldweller species. Squirt it using a syringe, into the tank near the shell entrance.

My guess is that if its their first spawn, maybe 10 fry? but definitely increases as they spawn more often. Don't be too disappointed if there are like 3 fry. They will only get better.

Just leave them in there. Should be fine unless theres other fish in there. You could however take out the shell and place it into a fry saver situated inside the tank, do this once you see their little heads poking out of the shell.

cheers; Richard
