Im planning on Setting up a 4x2x2 Display tank

just want to get different opinons on substrate

ive read afew articles suguesting crushed coral sand

for an African display tank as it helps to buffer the PH levels

so just wonderin what other people thought

or other suguests and reasons for something else

Its a shame no-one has replied, because I am curious about the same thing

to be honest when it comes to substrates for the majority of african display tanks it just comes down to personal preference.coral rubble or coral sand does act as a ph buffer but this can also be added to your filter if you dont like the look of a white substrate.i dont but thats just my personal preference.outside of that you can use any coloured gravel with preference given to your own taste.i myself dont use any gravel most of my tanks are just bare bottom i sit the rocks straight on the glass(carefully).

I use a fine gravel that is a mixture of brown and white as it blends in well with the terracotta background of the tanks. I intend to use some crushed marble in my display tank at home to help buffer the water.

There is also plenty of information in the FAQ on substrates.

Have a look on pages 3-5.
