Sidedrop filtration or sump?

Richard

Recommended Posts

Was just pondering over whether to go a sidedrop or sump for my 9x2x2 tank that i am getting. If i were to go with the sidedrop idea it would be one on either end, and maybe a fluval fx5 running on the tank aswell just to pick up the left overs. For the sump idea i was thinking maybe a 3-4ft sump, havent quite figured what pump i would use, i have a 7800lph one lying around or would that be too powerful? Also not quite sure on how i am going to get this done, as the tank is very big and heavy so that could be an issue. Overall i would like to get the most efficient filter for long term use, and also some ideas on pricing.

cheers; Richard

I think you should go for the sump, it is more aesthetically pleasing. Especially if hidden in a cabinet. 7800l/h is fine, if anything you could go with a bit bigger, I am running bigger than that on my 6x2.
