Bruce
Hey everyone, just thought I'd show everyone some pictures of my 6ft Tang Display tank. This may be satisfying for everyone involved in the two big topics regarding the tank...to see it finally up and running with happy healthy fish. The tank is currently stocked with 6 multies. The substrate is playsand with sandstone rocks and neothauma shells as decor. The filtration is a 4ft sump with 2 corner weirs. Lighting is 4 globes, a 6ft long twin 3ft globe light and a 4ft twin light. Tomorrow afternoon I will have my Cyprichromis Leptosoma "Utinta" colony in there so I'll post some pictures when they arrive. I am getting my 10 foai this weekend aswell. Excuse my photography, it still needs some work Tank Shot Shells and sand Multies and shells Right hand side rock/shell pile Enjoy Bruce

mezzacam
Awesome, Sounds like it's going to be one nicely stocked tank! Just out of curiousity... Will the foai "dump" sand over top of the multies? (Say if they were in their shells at the time?) I guess my multies spend 95% of their time out of their shell so it wouldn't be an issue I guess. I'm just retarded... haha. make sure to keep us updated as it comes along! Cameron.
Bruce
Well the foai are only 2.5cm at the moment so I don't think I'll have to worry about that for a while, or do they dig at that age? My multies are only in there shell when they get scared. Bruce
wui39
Nice looking tank so far although I would have prefered matching cabinet and hood.

Bruce
Or I could get a wooden hood? I prefer wood. I gotta sell my motorbike first though Then I can get my Xenotilapia Bruce
Guest parallel
You should of sand the whole thing and stain it. Would look awesome mate. But a tank that size I think will take around a month to complete. Just need to invest in a good sander. Nevertheless your tank have its own character. Cheers Parallel
trofius
foi wont dig untill they are about 8-10cm, but they will start to get fiesty about 5cm should be a nice tank when all stocked up.. i wouldget a few bigger rocks but, and what type of xenos are you getting? i find flavs will cruize on the bottom and sit on the rocks (looks cool) and spilopterous wil swim abouts mid water to bottom. Bruce
Any idea on how long it'll be for the Foai to hit the 5cm mark from 2.5cm? I am getting the Spilos, what's their growth speed like? Bruce
wormboy
Awesome tank Bruce, glad to see it finally running. Are the weirs working as planned? Just out of curiousity... Will the foai "dump" sand over top of the multies? I reckon a colony of multis will at least give a juvie foai a run for his money in the sand moving department Just a bit of a thought though Bruce, you are going to be putting some pretty awesome and expensive fish in there, do you think you should take it easy and stock it slowly? I know you have been doing a fishless cycle (correct?) but I for one would hate to see you loose your brand new fish with an ammonia spike. -Mat-
Bruce
I am adding the leptos tonight, the foai this weekend and the xenos in a couple of weeks. Will this be enough time? Bruce
trofius
Your loading times should be ok its a big tank and small fish so it will take a while for any noticable ammonia spikes, and the filter should keep up well enough. foi and spilopterous, they should grow at a similar rate but he foi will keep getting bigger and bigger, spilopterous will slow down at about 8cm mark. foai will start to turn it on about then. Bruce
How long will it take the foai to hit that size? Bruce
trofius
my foi took nearly 2 years to get the nice colours and knock dad off from the throne, they are now about 13cm and lookking Goooooood My fry are now close to 5cm and are 6months old, but it is a full tank and rthey may be held back a bit from not enough food. I would say from 2.5 to 10cm will take a good 12 months on good tucker.
Bruce
Ok cool, my leptosomas are in the tank and doing great. They are swimming around as a pretty active school towards the bottom of the tank. Will they swim up the top eventually? Bruce
spedwards
Give them a little time to get used to their new environment. By the way, when do we get a few pics of the new additions?
