JamesF
Hey guys, I have a question about my C.borleyi female, which i have 2 of in a 3 fter with a colony of afra cobwe and around 10 or so electric yellows, ranging in sizes of about 4 - 8cms. This female C.borleyi has a mouthful, so straight away I'm guessing it has cross bred with one of the males of different species. But it is also displying some strange behaviour, when i got home and founf her with a mouthful, i fed the fish as usual, as they were all feeding, this female was circling over a rock, as though she was breeding with a male, without any male present! So my question to this is, can the females actually drop eggs and pick them up without the male actually fertilising them? or has she just bred previously and not gotten over it?.... Hope this makes sense... Thanks James
Guest j.c fishfan
yes some females do lay eggs even if there arent any males there. i have even heard of a male blue dolphin picking up the females eggs once he has bred with her because every other time he has bred with her she ended up swallowing so that time the male had taken it into his hands!! jamie
