wormboy
Hey Ben, I love starting a tank with a clean slate. Its one of my favourite-est things in the whole world (people think I'm a little stange though ). In your list of fish I reckon you have two distinct groups of agression levels. The most aggressive group is probably topped by the Melanochromis, followed by the Pseudotropheus/Metraclima and rounded off with the hongis. The lower aggerssion level is all the rest. I would suggest you mix the fish within each group, not between groups as I reckon it will end in fatalities. Also spawning maingano have, IMO, the one of greatest weight/agro ratio of any african and should really be afforded a species tank ( dont mishear me, other than a slight social problem they are great little fish ) If you go with the groups with lower aggression levels then you can also add things like Protomelas taenoliatus, Placidochromis electra or P. sp. "otter points", perhaps some Aulonocara spp. or Spilorynchus. Just my 2c. Have fun and good luck -Mat-
GTR73
Nice selection. Should have enough room in there for all those agro Mbuna. And they're great to watch! Just looking at your two Pseudotropheus species - I think they'll almost certainly cross breed. Nice the Acei though. Good colours and they're great for cleaning up your algae I've found. Maybe drop the Acei "White Tail" from the list as I personaly think the Yellow Tails are nicer. Given that Mbuna are messy fish - always pooping and digging up the substrate - what filtration do you plan on running? For your proposed setup you would need decent filtration. dobbin4
If you get the acei Ngara that has the nice purple in it they are , but look like a lot of cross breeding, eg E/ blue x Lithobate and Colbolt blue x Hongi and yes the Mels will be the most aggressive. Maybe a bit hard for the peacock to cope, if u add these I would make sure they were the largest fish when adding to tank, but its been done and it is a 4x2x2, Good luck. Trio meaning one male or just take pot luck with fry as they may handle it if grown up together
