Hi Guys,

Here are my latest and cutest acquisitions since my New Years day disaster. Emydura Macquarii Kreffti or better known as Kreffts Turtles. They are 3 weeks old and very hard to photograph as they very active little buggers in the water.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the comments guys. I too thought the pics came up alright and even without any sharpening or alteration.

Dave, I'm not trading my fish in for turtles. They are actually an early birthday present for my son Marcus, who's been bugging me for the last 2 years to get them. He absolutely adores them and has taken over the responsibility of switching on their light every morning and feeding them, with mums supervision of course. Not bad for a 3 1/2 year old.

SchmucK, it's live black worms he's munching on. Some worms get away at meal time and hide under the substrate and every so often the turtles dig up the substrate looking for them.

They are housed in a standard 2 ft turtle tank that comes with a turtle dock for them to come up onto via a ramp and sun bake under the UV light. As parrdog mentioned, there is Val for them to munch on and tangle themselves into and also enables them to use for climbing or just sitting in.

wui39, apparently they are crap factories, but these guys are only 3 weeks old (shell size is that of a 50 cent piece), so not so messy at this age. There is a 700 l/h Fluval internal filter that keeps it clean for now. As they grow bigger, I'll move them into bigger tanks and finally into a pond that I will be building in about a year from now.

Nick.
