Ash
Firstly, my redecorated display tank. I still have more wood to put in, just picking the pieces... My male synspilum, named Quentin. (they are known as either "Red headed cichlid" or "Quetsal" after a colourful Central American bird, Quentin somehow came from Quetsal?) Finally, my RD imaginitvely named "Red". Hope you all dig them Cheers Ash

Ash
Yellow, ya, he has a std 4'er now all to himself. I did have him in a 4x2x2 but the only other thing that survived was convicts cause of the rockwork & the 4x2 was needed for other overcrowded fish. Cheers Jaymes, I picked him up as a boring grey fish 2 years ago on a whim, lucky hey! I've got 5 juvies growing out with him hoping to find a girly for him, maybe end up with two pairs & hand the spares back.

Camo
Hey Nice shots mate what camera do you use? Cameron
Ash
$200 Kodak Z700. Here's my photography method... 1) take eleventy billion pics 2) clean up the 3-4 reasonable ones in PS 3) delete the rejects I'm getting better at getting things in focus, that's the hardest thing. All of those pics (except for the whole tank shot) were taken with the camera's macro function with the lense right up almost on the glass. I also use the take multiple pics 1/2 sec apart function to try & combat movement. Also dark room, no flash, only the tank lighting. Does anyone else have trouble getting shots in 2' wide tanks? the fish seem to want to sit at the back just in between where the macro & normal functions will focus. Probably my main gripe with this camera, but then it's probably operator trouble! Red being in a 14" wide tank is infinitely easier to photograph than my other fish in the 4x2's

Ash
How large is yours? mines spot on 25cm, as is the RD, cept the RD is a lot bulkier. Edit: some other fish... Blackbelt (Vieja maculicauda) ~20cm - he had pop-eye so is blind in that eye now, so he almost always swims with that eye outwards. My pair of Texas (H. carpinte) both ~15cm - both have tubes 1/2 out trying to spawn in that cave (2nd pic) but the BB is making it hard for them. Hopefully I'll have eggs/fry soon so I can use them for the photo comp. There's also a lonely Jack Dempsey in there, but it's always in its cave. Ash
Hi Richard, The tank in the first shot with the synspilums is a 4x2x2. The RD is by himself in a 4'x14"x18" & the Texas & BB are in another 4x2x2. Cheers Ash
