while ive got this post up could one of the morew experienced photographers on here please tell me if there is any way of capturing an image of a fish while it is moving without the picture coming out blurry.i took heaps of them but they were constantly moving and the above were the best i could do.my wife said that speeding up the shutter speed may help.is that correct?

As long as you have plenty of light, or you are using the flash, you can increase shutter speed.

If your camera has a "sports" setting, use that and see how you go.

Like Vis says - use manual settings - shutter priority, speed around 1/200 seconds or faster. If you don't have enough light, change the ISO setting to 200 or even 400 (however results will be grainier the larger you go).

It's also a good idea if you're using artificial light to match the "white balance" to the colour temperature of the light you're using. This should all be in the manual.

Alternatively, cool the tank down to 20C. That'll slow them down! blush.gif

my house is a jag factory at the moment.ive got my big male.th little female pictured and another one the same size in a spare tank.not to mention the other fifteen other one i kept from his last spawn to.my photography skills dont do them justice.i keep losing his purple sheen which comes on when his displaying.its when hes circling her that its at its most brightest which is why i asked the above question.ill keep working on it though.richard yes.gif it is your old tank i bought it for him and hes lived in it ever since.thanks for the help too guys with the shutter speed stuff ive had my head in the manual since and am planning to have another go on the weekend. thumb.gif
