ViS
This has me stumped. I posted this on a forum, and several people told me what camera was used and the settings on the camera at the time of shooting. Can anyone enlighten me on how they could gather that information from a jpg posted on a forum (with no details as far as I can see in the properties of it)? Cuong
350D with a 1/320 second shutter time? Taken on the 21st of December 2005. I opened it up in Photoshop CS2 after saving it to the computer >File>File Info.. And I think a few other programs can do this too. Very nice shot though

Matty
if you just save the picture onto your computer anywhere, (eg. desktop) you can just right-click on it and bring up it's properties -> summary -> advanced. That is with using windows xp.

ViS
Crikey Is there any way of removing that info? Not that you'd ever need to, but it seems strange that it's permanently attached to the picture, even when you re-save it from it's original form. Where and how is it stored in the image? As an example (and purely speculation), some people might not want to advertise to the world that they are using certain programs which may or may not be original registered versions Just curious how it all works

mianos
It's just embedded tags in the jpeg file. The format is 'EXIF'. If you look on the web you will find many EXIF editors, both inexpensive and free. There seem to be a few 'batch' exif editors available but I could not find a good free one. Personally I don't bother touching them. I also have a button on my website gallery that shows the EXIF data.
