Fish Im most interested in would be - A. agassizi - always my favourite - A. steindachneri if its about at all (I had a pair once that I got from Rod) - A. bitaeniata (did I read there were wild caughts available in some shop??) Cheers Steph PS: OMG - I can still spell all these damn scientific names !
abob
Hi Folks Just wondering whats about at the moment and would love to hear about what people are keeping. There are a heap more on the AI and bayfish wholesale lists. Also, the big excitement at the moment is that Slippery Little Suckers (SLS) near sydney airport are importing 3 or 4 species of wild caught or F1 fish every month or two. Species have included "Inka 50", panduro, borelli, atahulpa bitaeniata and norberti. I havn't seen steindachneri but they may be around. I currently have cacatuoides, veijita and trifasciata. I will have fry avilable in the coming months Good luck! Dean

steph
Thanks for the word on SLS everyone :D I found their post on another forum about whats coming up and have put my name down for some A. baenschi "Inka". Also thinking I might get some of the borelli's or the A. eremnopyge (man I reckon the names get harder and harder to spell...) depending on Dave's reaction when I come home with tiny brown fish that cost ~50 bucks each .. *grin* Cheers Steph

Th0mas
Hi Steph - welcome back!! I'm at the same situation as you are, coming back again for more.... now my son is 4.25 years old and I can finally afford time on the fish. Started to look around for apisto lately, and they are so many more around. SLS is one place to go, but expensive. Aquapet is another, but uncertain what and when will come in. Then there's BNC in Matrraville, not cheap (similar to SLS), but good quality. Then there are occassional one popping up in Auburn as well as Fish Rocks (small shop in Eastwood, only open recently). Nothing at St George, Lams, etc. From what I've find so far, all above mention shops has their own quarantine facilities and brings them in directly (not from wholesellers). So the qualities are usually pretty good, however they are more expensive. Current availabilities are: - bitaeniata (German @ BNC) - cacatoides (German bred double red @ BNC and Aquapet, local bred @ SLS and Auburn) - agassizi (German bred double red @ BNC and Aquapet, local bred @ SLS and Auburn, local bred from German stock @ Fish Rocks) - macmasteri (F0 @ SLS, local bred from German stock @ Fish Rocks) - veijita (German bred form 3 @ BNC) - hongsloi (German bred @ BNC) - pandurini (local @ Auburn) There are more of other apistos in SLS, but not really ones I like. As for the Inka50, you'll need to pre-order them as they will not make it to the display tank at the shop. I only started to go around and restock my tanks slowly since June/July last year, and discovered the price of them are so much more expensive. At them moment, I've got a pair of bitaeniata (F0 male, German bred female), pandurini (not really great quality), macmasteri, and looking forward to see some of the new species coming in through SLS (possibly next week and Feb). Need to catch up with you one day. Cheers, Thomas.
