I concur with the previous comments. Your work is superb. Thanks for sharing the camera settings as well - 1/200 second exposure at f18. You must be throwing some serious light into the tank to get such a well exposed image.

Keep up the great standard! thumbup.gif

Great pics as always. Are all those fry from the same female (different colours???)

Vis

Yes they are. The males come out brown and the females orange so you instantly know how many of each you have smile.gif

I have another batch of fry from the estherae currently growing on with some zebra 'long pelvic' mdoka. I manage to get some wild 'long pelvic' just before christmas and the female was already holding which was a nice christmas bonus smile.gif

These shots were taken with a diffused Canon 580 flash over the tank. I find with the male you have to reduce the exposure as the shots are easily over exposed. The small aperature howver tend to turn the background to black.

Reduced exposure also seems to be benefical for orange and yellow coloured fish to preserve scale detail along the backs.

some zebra 'long pelvic' mdoka

Ok now you're just rubbing it in angry.giflaugh.gif

I don't know of any other mbuna that are sexable from birth. Is it unique to the estherae?

I have been waiting a long long time for the mdoka. They arrived in pretty poor conditions after their long voyage but I will post some pics when I get the male back to full condition.

Thanks for your feedback. You have nice gear, but more importantly, you know how to use it to great effect. I'm going to invest in a slave flash and look forward to playing around with it. If the results are half as good as yours, I'll be happy!
