Modes
Hi Looking at making more food but need advice. Last batch I used a blender but find that when the largest pieces are of the correct size the majority is liquified. The liquified portion just pollutes the tanks. Would like to make some today as I lost all my fruitfly cultures in yesterdays 45 degrees. Thanks Barry
D6C1
Did you try the blender on a slow setting?
Guest parallel
What about a handheld blender, should be able to get one from K-mart under 20 bucks.

G-1000
I find that a manual grinder works quite well. If you are using meat/seafood etc, then make sure you pass it through the grinder 2 or 3 times to ensure even & small pieces. As far as polluting the water - you need a binder. So I check flake food, colour bits, pellets or whatever and blend it to a powder and pass through the mix (then put into grinder again). Lots of discus keepers use this method. hoges
I make all of my own food. I chop my food down to a reasonable size (usually pieces about the size of a standard dice) then I use a bar mix to reduce the sizes and mix them well. I have to make sure everything is soft (not frozen or too cold) when I do it. It works fine for me, you just have to make sure that you aren't mixing really different textures cos this is when you can run into troubles. What is it exactly that you are trying to mix? Say I'm making a meat and vege combo, I tend to blend the meat and veges seperate and then just stir them together at the end.
